Giving to You on #GivingTuesday
By now, you’ve probably seen or heard at least a hundred references to #GivingTuesday – a national day of giving in support of non-profits across the United States. While this is a day of giving to LEAD – and we do hope we can count on you (more on that later) – we also realize that it is a day for us to give back to YOU!
Many of you have asked us to once again set up our Hidden In Plain Sight exhibit in the community. The feedback we received after our last exhibit drop-in night was very positive, and many of you asked us to put this back on the schedule. So, this Tuesday (#GivingTuesday!), November 29th, we will have our Hidden In Plain Sight exhibit set up from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in our office on the 2nd floor of Gorton Community Center. For those of you who don’t know about Hidden In Plain Sight, it is an interactive traveling teenage bedroom exhibit that is a great resource for parents and community leaders. This exhibit invites attendees to tour a mock teenage bedroom that contains over 100 items that may be indicative of risky behaviors including substance use, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity, suicide and more. Drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29th to tour through the exhibit at your leisure. You can tour through in as few as 5 minutes, or you can take your time. In addition, our staff will be on hand throughout the day to highlight certain components of the exhibit. I guarantee you will walk away with a new learning, so come see what you can find!
