Departure: Buses will depart from the Gorton Community Center (400 E. Illinois Rd, Lake Forest).  Gorton will be open between 9:30 p.m. – 1:45 a.m. for students to change clothes and hang out until buses depart.  Students who are not attending prom can choose to take an early bus to Six Flags, and should arrive to Gorton by 10:00 p.m.  The early bus will depart at 10:30 p.m. Students attending prom are encouraged to take an early bus back from prom, to arrive at Gorton by 1 a.m. for the late bus departure.

PLEASE NOTE: All students who attend this post prom event should be dropped off to and picked up from Gorton Community Center by a parent or guardian.

All buses will return to the Gorton Community Center parking lot by 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 14th. For students who choose to take the early bus, there will be an option to leave the park at an earlier time. Those students who elect to leave the park early will return to the Gorton parking lot by 3:30 a.m.  Please see detailed bus options below.

Additional Info: The large food court and indoor areas at the park will be open all night.  Students should remember to bring extra spending money for food and beverages. Many indoor and sheltered areas of the park will be open to provide shelter from rain if needed.  Since Great America deals with rainy days all season long, even with 30,000-40,000 attendees in the park, rain should not be a concern with only 5,000 attendees on prom night.

Most rides will be open, except the rides for younger kids.  Indoor rides will also be open (i.e. The Dark Knight).

Safety and Security is Our #1 Priority:

  • Only buses are allowed into the park for the post-prom event.  Students may not drive their own vehicles to Six Flags.
  • Exclusive controlled event – no student in & out privileges.
  • Private event – not open to the public!  No long lines either!
  • Local parents & community leaders will chaperone the entire event!
  • Park security and Gurnee Police will be onsite, and throughout the park.
  • Storage of prom attire will be provided.  Stay tuned for more details.
